The Best Beaches of the Paradise Formentera Island

The Best Beaches of the Paradise Formentera Island

This Formentera island is so beautiful, so untouched, so wonderful.. As the island’s official website puts it, it is “the last paradise of the Mediterranean”.

Whether you are looking for paradise, a relaxed day, stunning Instagram pictures or for detoxing from your hangover. Formentera has it all…

Beautiful white beaches, clear turquoise waters, secluded and lively beaches, delicious food and blissfulness.

The Formentera island has been favorited destination among hippies since the 1960s. Formentera beaches have been an inspiration and home for many artists starting from Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Matt Haig, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and many others.

With 83.24 km2 (32.14 sq mi) land area and just 1500 inhabitants living in the capital area of the island, the island is a true gem. Called by the island’s website “the last paradise of the Mediterranean”.

Just a 30-40 min ride away from Ibiza, you will find this magnificent place.

We recommend visiting:

Playa de Ses Illetes

The beautiful Ses Illetes beach was voted as the best beach in Europe in 2016 by TripAdvisor. Last year, it is the Travellers’ Choice 2017 and 2018 Winner in Beaches category.

This one is not to miss!

Playa Migjorn

Go south and explore the longest beach on the island. Enjoy snorkeling, nudity, and quietness. The beach is made up of many little coves. You can find a few nice restaurants and bars here.

Our favourite spot for a hangover day is Kiosko 62 located on Playa Migjorn. It’s really good, affordable and attracts a good crowd.

S’Alga Beach on S’Espalmador island

If you are looking for a truly secluded island beach experience, take a boat at the Formentera port and go to S’Espalmador island. It is located right at the top of Ses Illetes beach and can give you the ultimate blissfulness experience.

How to Get Around the Island:

The beaches are located some 5-10 km away from the port.

We recommend renting a bike to get around the island as it offers a very enjoyable experience, convenience, eco-friendliness and low cost. Plus, no need to pay a deposit or insurance. Alternatively, hire a scooter or a quad.

Taxi’s are also available at your disposal and will cost some 15-20 eur to get to Playa de Ses Illetes. Public buses are also available at disposal but you’ve got to watch out for their timetables.

Enjoy!
